More than 3,600 event professionals will gather in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Jan. 6-9 for the 2019 PCMA Convening Leaders conference. [Update: preliminary attendance figures released onsite by PCMA on Jan. 7 up that figure to ~4,800.] While PCMA may officially be an association for professional convention managers, its reach extends further. Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE)  has added two MICE industry veterans to their management team. Tahira Endean, CMP, DES, CED has been named Head of Events starting immediately, and Jennifer Juergens will assume the role of Director, Industry & Media Relations on Jan. 1, 2019. Spangler is a sustainable events consultant and speaker specializing in waste diversion and zero waste events. Her services include green events, green weddings and helping venues become more sustainable. In July, Corporate Event News conducted a reader survey which asked corporate event professionals to select and rank the top challenges they face on the job. Event professionals are still being asked to do more, with less. The number one challenge reported by the majority of readers was “low budget, high expectations.”    Most event managers work far more than 40 hours a week.
