The wildfires that tore through the island of Maui and the historic town of Lahaina, destroying more than 2,500 acres of land and claiming the lives of 115 residents ­– and counting – will go down in history as one of the worst national disasters in Hawaii’s history. Corporate event planners and trade show organizers now have a new service that can assist them in their quest to achieve net zero carbon events: Reduce 2, Saving the Planet by Degree, an independent third-party sustainability assurance practice. Combating food waste is a hot topic in the meetings and events industry these days — and for good reason.
