Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City Debuts First Hotel Connected to the Salt Palace Convention Center

October 24, 2022

On Oct. 17, the 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City officially opened its doors as the first major hotel development in 20 years in a city recognized as one of the fastest-growing urban hubs in the U.S. Debuting as the only hotel directly connected to the Salt Palace Convention Center and the first Hyatt Regency in Utah, the new downtown property features 700 modern guest rooms and suites, and more than 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the largest hotel ballroom and largest outdoor rooftop event space in the city.

According to General Manager Pina Purpero, the anticipated arrival of one of the city’s largest hotel developments, just steps from the myriad cultural experiences and outdoor pursuits the city has to offer, helps position Salt Lake City as a top event destination.

“The development of Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City has been in the works for a long time,” Purpero said. “The project was envisioned by Salt Lake County and industry partners more than 10 years ago to address the growing demand of large-scale events. The ethos of the Hyatt Regency brand was a natural fit to bring this vision to life, adding modernity and vibrancy to the city’s central core.”

Located in the heart of the city’s downtown area and set to a backdrop of the towering Wasatch mountains, Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City combines the destination’s local eclectic style with intuitive design, tech-enabled conveniences and energizing spaces that will appeal to meeting and event groups of all shapes and sizes.

Guest Rooms

Combining contemporary and functional design, the property’s 700 spacious guest rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the city skyline and surrounding mountain peaks. Each room is outfitted with modern furnishings, separate seating areas, high-speed internet streaming, a Smart Mirror vanity and digital room key entry via the World of Hyatt app.

When not in the room, guests can enjoy the hotel’s rooftop Sundance Terrace complete with a pool, cabanas, firepits and a 24-hour fitness center.

Meeting Space

Primed for hosting both intimate and large-scale gatherings of up to 2,875 people, the hotel’s meeting and event space includes the 23,000-sq.-ft. Regency Ballroom, the largest indoor hotel ballroom in Salt Lake City, and the 7,400-sq.-ft. Sundance Terrace, the city’s largest outdoor rooftop space, suitable for up to 850 guests. Additional meeting space includes 21 flexible breakout rooms able to accommodate 10-90 guests, pre-function areas and the 14,700-sq.-ft. Salt Lake Ballroom. The space also includes a Broadcast Lounge, one of the first to debut from the Hyatt Regency brand, which provides technology-enabled video feeds that allow guests the option of attending a live conference in a hybrid format.

Dining

Four distinct on-property dining venues provide guests a wide selection of experiences, from casual to lively. Guests can grab refreshments and shared small plates from Contribution, an upscale street-facing lounge; enjoy a sit-down meal at The Salt Republic for breakfast, lunch or dinner; swing by Market for a local artisanal snack on-the-go; or for a more elevated experience, try Executive Chef Tyson Peterson’s farm-to-table, Northern Spanish-inspired cuisine at Mar|Muntanya on the hotel’s sixth-floor rooftop.

Artwork

Featuring a unique collection of artwork and commissioned pieces by local creatives that combine the downtown urban atmosphere with the natural beauty framing the city’s skyline, the hotel is adorned with stylish pieces that set the tone and personality of the property, adding a bold touch of nature-inspired influences to contemporary interiors.

Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is conveniently located near many of the destination’s popular attractions and less than seven miles from Salt Lake City International Airport. The property is a short walk from the city’s eclectic Main Street, Temple Square, Capitol Theatre, City Creek Center and Vivint Arena. Nine world-class ski resorts are also within reach via a short drive, including Deer Valley and Park City, home to the famed Sundance Film Festival.
