Sunseeker Resorts Unveils Plans for First Property in Florida With Cutting-Edge Convention Center

May 6, 2022

In May 2023, Florida’s Gulf Coast will welcome an impressive new property ideal for corporate meetings and events: the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, situated over 22 waterfront acres and boasting 785 guest rooms and a 60,000-square-foot convention center. The resort will be the first property of Sunseeker Resorts, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company, and a member of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI).

“The response from the meeting industry has been incredible due to the fact that we will be the first completely new-build resort with 300-plus rooms to open in Southwest Florida in over three years." said Renee McKenney, executive director of sales, services and experience for Sunseeker Resorts. "Groups are excited and can't wait to experience the vibrancy of a new destination."

The event facility will be a highlight of the property, offering world-class catering, innovative breakout areas, immersive indoor and outdoor spaces and waterfront views of Charlotte Harbor. As one of the largest convention spaces on the West Coast of Florida, it will encompass the main ballroom, junior ballroom, two executive boardrooms, 12 meeting rooms and an ideation suite with three separate breakout rooms.

From small, intensive work sessions or intimate events to major corporate summits for hundreds, the indoor and outdoor spaces will feature state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, dramatic lighting capabilities, high-resolution digital displays optimized for hybrid meetings, 22-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Charlotte Harbor.

In addition to the event facility, the resort will feature an 18-hole championship golf club exclusive to hotel guests; 20 original food and beverage concepts, including seven stand-alone restaurants, eleven bars and lounges, two poolside offerings and a 25,000-sq.-ft. multi-dining experience; a waterfront boardwalk; two unique rooftop and waterfront pool experiences; a full-service spa and salon; a 7,100-sq.-ft. fitness center with four group exercise studios; and three retail and market shops.

The Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor will be situated near five airports: Punta Gorda Airport, Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, Tampa International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport. For groups looking to fly directly into Punta Gorda, Allegiant Air’s private charters are available from any U.S. airport.

"ALHI is honored to be engaged with Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, a luxury destination on the West Coast of Florida that will include elegantly modern accommodations, ample first-class meeting space, excellent culinary experiences and endless activities,” said Ashly Balding, chief sales officer of ALHI. “This property is a true gem and has a phenomenal team, led by Renee McKenney, that is passionate to serve and ready to explore your next meeting opportunity.”
