Omni San Diego Hotel Debuts Top-to-Bottom Upgrades

October 1, 2024

Just in time for its 20th anniversary, the Omni San Diego Hotel in San Diego’s downtown Gaslamp Quarter recently completed a property-wide renovation that encompasses refreshed meeting and event spaces, a reimagined lobby and guest rooms, two new food and beverage concepts, and a redesigned poolside experience.

Led by New York-based design studio Jeffrey Beers International, the hotel’s new aesthetic features a modern color scheme and refined baseball-inspired design commemorating its connection with Petco Park (connected by the property’s Skybridge) and the San Diego Padres.

Flexible and Scenic Meeting Spaces

Situated directly across from the San Diego Convention Center, the Omni San Diego offers 32,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space comprised of 24 versatile indoor and outdoor gathering areas featuring a modern and sophisticated yet welcoming aesthetic.

Refined Lobby and Refreshed Rooms

Designed to exude comfort and sophistication via earthy tones, sleek furniture, and natural materials reflecting the outdoors, the lobby and the open-concept lobby lounge area feature a versatile array of seating arrangements, from plush sofas to cozy armchairs and communal tables.

Designed to immerse guests in the spirit of the seaside city, the hotel’s newly renovated 511 guest rooms offer a comfortable, casual luxury aesthetic alongside expansive views of the San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, and Petco Park. Featuring intricately crafted furniture and chic accents, each room is bedecked with cross-hatched credenzas, curved couches and nightstands, and circular tables that function as dining areas and desk spaces. Spa-inspired bathrooms offer custom vanity mirrors, expansive sinks, and artistic green tiles outlining walk-in showers.

Destination-Inspired Dining Options

Situated on the hotel’s sixth floor, the reimagined, coastal-inspired Tortuga pool bar and terrace features multiple indoor lounges and an expansive pool deck overlooking the water. Inspired by Executive Chef Wenceslao Zavala’s roots in Rosarito, Baja California, Tortuga’s Baja bites and robust beverage menu feature Grilled Baja Fish Tacos and Shrimp Adovada, and signature cocktails such as the Lychee Blossom.

Positioned adjacent to the lobby and with a separate outside entrance, the communal space features a cylindrical bar with dramatic light fixtures, stadium-inspired lighting, and a wrap-around bottle display. Its playful menu offers dishes such as the Blistered Shishito Peppers, Vegetable Meze, Frings Loaded Nachos, Ace Burger, Stone & Fruit Pancetta Panzanella, and a selection of local draft beers, signature cocktails, wine and mocktails.

Relaxing Rooftoop Pool Experience

Overlooking the city and offering sweeping views of San Diego’s skyline, the hotel’s newly designed, 8,000 sq.-ft. rooftop pool features shaded daybeds and lounge chairs as well as private cabanas with lounge furniture and mounted televisions. Guests can also relax in comfortable chaises by outdoor fire pits or gather in Tortuga’s bar and dining spaces.
