Meta Launches LlamaCon; Sets Dates for 12th Annual Meta Connect

Following the unprecedented growth and momentum of its open source Llama collection of models and tools, Meta announced it is launching LlamaCon, its first-ever developer conference dedicated to generative AI that will take place on April 29. The company also announced its 12th annual developer conference, Meta Connect, will be held September 17-18. Meta did not announce the location of either of the conferences, but they will likely be held in person at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., and online. Additional details will be made available soon, said Meta.
At LlamaCon, Meta said it will share the latest on its “open source AI developments to help developers do what they do best: build amazing apps and products, whether as a start-up or at scale.” Meta recently said that it would spend as much as $65 billion this year to expand its AI infrastructure.
Looking back
In 2024, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the main stage at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., to kick off the two-day event with a keynote on the company’s latest developments in mixed reality, AI, and wearables. Watch last year’s keynote by Zuckerberg here.

Held Sept. 25-26, the 11th annual Meta Connect conference offered a wide variety of sessions for developers on topics like AI, mixed reality, 2D and Meta Spatial SDK, open store, developer programs, developer spotlights, Meta avatars, and the Meta Horizon app (all available for viewing here). Looking ahead
Meta Connect 2025 hopes to attract “virtual and mixed reality developers, content creators, metaverse mavens, and AI glasses enthusiasts.”
As in years past, Meta Connect will share the “latest and greatest in Meta Horizon updates, peel back the curtain on tomorrow’s tech, and give XR [developers] the tools they need to help build for the next computing platform today.”
