As the demand for face-to-face meetings shows positive signs of gaining more momentum in 2023, established hotel brands are announcing remodels, touting recent upgrades and unveiling reinventions of their U.S. properties to lure back meeting and event groups. Take a look!

The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit

Oxford Capital Group is kicking off the new year with a $20 million renovation of The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, which is located within walking distance of the Huntington Place Convention Center. Set for completion in summer 2023, the project will feature a reimagining of the hotel’s 453 guest rooms and suites, 36,658 square feet of meeting and event space and all public spaces within the property, in addition to the debut of a new dining concept.

The hotel’s redesign will pay homage to its Italian Renaissance style from original architect Louis Kamper with a fresh, contemporary aesthetic. Among the new design elements will be a fresh color palette and patterns, with spaces offering varied comfortable yet refined furnishings and styling designed to honor the property’s classical elegance while also creating an inviting residential feel.

Opened in 1924 and revered as the most extravagant hotel in Detroit, as well as the tallest hotel in the world at the time, the property has welcomed prominent figures including several presidents, top entertainers and professional athletes, and hosted major social galas. Following its closure in 1984, the hotel re-emerged as The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit in 2008 after a two-year, multimillion-dollar restoration.

The hotel will remain open and operational throughout its renovation period, with Chicago-based Gettys Group overseeing its transformation.
