Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort to Unveil $250 Million Expansion Project This Fall
Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, N.C., is gearing up to complete a $250 million expansion this fall. The four-year project, which broke ground in June 2018, includes a new 725-room hotel tower, an 83,000-square-foot convention center and new food and beverage offerings, among additional amenities.
“We are thrilled to see this project come to completion and to be able to offer our guests new amenities and offerings,” said Brooks Robinson, regional senior vice president and general manager of Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos. “This expansion has been an integral component to our property and community’s growth and helps us further show that Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is truly a destination that is unlike any other in the Carolinas.”
Upon completion, the expansion will include the following:
The Cherokee: As the resort’s fourth hotel tower, it spans 19 stories and features 725 rooms and seven suites conveniently located adjacent to the resort’s new convention space. Its room design concept is rooted in earth tones with accents of burnt sienna, golden hues and charcoal gray along with a mix of eucalyptus and walnut woods.
The Cherokee Convention Center: The resort’s new 83,000-sq.-ft. meeting and convention space more than triples its current rentable event space. Backed by mountain views, the three-level expansion offers a variety of meeting spaces for both small and large groups, including a 32,000-sq.-ft. ballroom, a pre-function ballroom, 26 meeting spaces and an exhibition hall.
New Lobby: The two-story, open-air lobby features a 30-ft. registration desk made of onyx stone that sits in front of a custom walnut-slatted wood design, lit to create an abstract representation of the Smoky Mountains. A 50-seat lobby bar and lounge is highlighted by a sky blue marble wall lined with cascading bottles of wine.
Terrace Pool: Located on the second floor of The Cherokee hotel tower, it features sweeping views of the mountains as well as a fitness center. Offering a private entrance to the pool are two 800-sq.-ft. hospitality suites complete with full kitchens.
In addition to the expansion, several new gaming amenities and food and beverage offerings debuted earlier in 2021, with additional openings to come in the following months.
The Book: Opened in March in partnership with Caesars Entertainment and William Hill, this state-of-the-art sports betting experience features a 90-foot ultra-high-definition screen, plush chairs with USB charging ports and full beverage service. Groups can enjoy the exclusive upper deck, which offers an elevated seating area and panoramic views of the high-definition screens, or reserve one of the three private Fan Caves highlighted by an 85” HDTV, two 43” 4K TVs and convenient access to betting stations.
WSOP Poker Room: Opened in September 2020, the 34-table, non-smoking World Series of Poker Room offers eight-handed cash games and 85 spots.
Myst Bar: Opened in January, the new Myst Bar in the casino features both bar and lounge seating, with high-definition TVs ideal for sports viewing. An elevated stage in the center of the bar features live music every weekend.
Wicked Weed Brewpub: Opened in April, it offers a robust menu of 24 signature local craft beers and ciders from the popular Wicked Weed Brewery in Asheville, N.C. The 1,200-sq.-ft. restaurant features a 36-seat main bar, a walk-up tasting bar, a menu of traditional brewery fare curated by Executive Chef Kayla Snipes and a live entertainment stage.
Located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is one of more than 50 properties owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, Inc., the largest casino-entertainment company in the U.S.
