Park MGM’s New Madison Meeting Center Caters to Small Groups

August 14, 2018

The 10,000-square-foot Madison Meeting Center at Park MGM is a new breed of Las Vegas event space: a self-contained executive meeting center designed for small groups.

MGM Resorts says that the majority of their convention business is groups with 100 or fewer guest rooms. But traditionally, Las Vegas meeting space is rented using a model designed for larger groups. MGM aims to change that with the Madison Meeting Center, which opened in late July.

The center can accommodate groups of 10-50 attendees within its 10 flexible meeting rooms.  Meeting rooms come with ergonomic moveable furniture with integrated power, built-in audio/visual equipment and rolling whiteboards. The center also includes two self-service lounges.

“Madison Meeting Center reflects the evolution of meetings,” said Shelly Cruz, vice president of sales for Park MGM.

Cruz said that MGM Resorts’ clients crave venues that provide an environment conducive to creativity and brainstorming. That led the team to explore corporate campuses with communal environments, to be able to design meeting space that would fit with corporate needs and expectations.

“Our space lends itself to taking a break from all the "white noise" in our busy lives and truly tapping into that collaborative mindset,” she added.

The center’s pricing model is also a first on the Las Vegas Strip, according to MGM Resorts officials. The all-inclusive Daily Meeting Package (DMP) takes the guesswork out of guarantees: planners simply pay a per-attendee flat rate.

Cruz explained that the DMP was developed to help planners by making the planning process simpler and providing a higher level of cost efficiency.

“I think clients are ready to try something different and we are happy to be the first ones to pioneer the layout for it,” she said.

Where the Madison Meeting Center caters to small groups, Park MGM’s recently opened Conference Center and Park Theater can host groups of up to 5,000 attendees.  The Conference Center features 58,600 square feet of event space, including a ballroom and 29 breakout rooms. The Central Park Terrace offers 4,345 sq. ft. of private outdoor space.  And the Park Theater can accommodate up to 5,200 attendees in its 30,000 sq. ft.

Further increasing its offerings for small groups, Park MGM plans to open its Ideation Studio later this year, which can host groups of six to 24 attendees.

“We look forward to helping groups maximize their time together by creating environments that lead to greater conversation and creativity,” said Cruz.
