New Convention Center/Hotel Combination Opens in Allen, Texas

January 25, 2019

The greater Dallas area has a new spot for meetings and conventions: Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen and Watters Creek Convention Center, which debuted in January. Located 30 minutes north of Dallas and 30 miles from DFW International and Love Field airports, the new facility is the first four-star, full-service hotel and convention center in Allen and one of the largest facilities of its kind in North Texas.

With 90,000 square feet of flexible meeting and convention space, the Watters Creek Convention Center can accommodate gatherings of up to 1,000 attendees. It offers 23 meeting spaces, including up to 19 breakout rooms.

Featured meeting spaces include a section of rooms designed to operate as a briefing center and lab, and the column-free, 40,000-sq.-ft. Terrell Hall, which has 32-ft. ceilings. (The hall is named in honor of Stephen Terrell, Allen’s mayor since 1997.)

Attached to the Watters Creek Convention Center is the new Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen. The six-story, 300-room Allen hotel is among the first of Marriott’s newest upscale, full-service Delta brand properties to open in the United States.

It offers a full-service fitness center, an outdoor pool and patio, free Wi-Fi in guest rooms and complimentary bottled water. Parking in the 1,000-spot attached garage is a $12 per day.

Renowned local chef Stephan Pyles has relocated his Stampede 66 restaurant and bar from uptown Dallas into the Delta. For guests looking for a quick meal or snack, the hotel also features a grab-and-go market.

Many more options for dining and shopping are just steps away — the property is located across the street from mixed-use shopping and dining options at the Watters Creek by Montgomery Farms outdoor mall. For golfers, the Courses at Watters Creek is only three miles away.

Several large meetings are already booked at the hybrid property. According to Allen CVB Director Karen Cromwell, the facility will host its first citywide conference starting Feb. 27.

“This conference involves seven Allen hotels and is expected to generate approximately $400,000 in direct economic impact,” said Cromwell.

The Allen CVB will move into new office space on the first floor of the Delta hotel in February, providing planners with easy on-site assistance.
