May 30, 2023

Two big convention cities Salt Lake City and San Francisco recently unveiled new hotel properties offering meeting planners and event groups more premium options in guest rooms, flexible event spaces, amenities, price points and convenience. Check them out!

Le Méridien, Element and Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City

Following the announcement of its best booking year ever, Visit Salt Lake is welcoming more than 1,000 premium hotel rooms to its vibrant downtown convention district.

In April, Le Méridien Salt Lake City Downtown and Element Salt Lake City Downtown, the first dual-pad project combining Marriott brands, marked their grand opening. Le Méridien boasts 144 sophisticated and chic rooms and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with city views and emerald tile-adorned showers, while Element Salt Lake City Downtown offers 126 sustainable rooms and suites with city view floor-to-ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchenettes and spacious spa-like bathrooms with eco-conscious amenities.

With seasonal menus created by Executive Chef Jacqueline Siao, the property’s signature restaurant, Adelaide, is a French and New Orleans-inspired urban brasserie with Cajun undertones. As the first full-scale hotel rooftop experience in Salt Lake offering sweeping views of the city and the Wasatch mountains, Van Ryder offers a menu featuring artisan-crafted libations with cocktail cuisine.

Slated to come online in the fall of 2024, the new Asher Adams is an adaptive re-use of Salt Lake’s historic Union Pacific Train Depot and the new construction of a 225-key Autograph Collection by Marriott International. The hotel will feature 13 historic guest suites and a new eight-story guest room structure, multiple food and beverage outlets, 9,000 sq. ft. of meeting and function space and open-air gathering spaces.

In October 2022, the 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City debuted as Utah’s first Hyatt Regency and the only hotel directly adjoining the Salt Palace Convention Center. Featuring 700 spacious guest rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the city skyline and surrounding mountain peaks, the property offers 60,000 sq. ft. of event space and four distinct dining venues.

Opened in February 2022, evo Hotel is an outdoor lifestyle brand and one-of-a-kind lodging experience offering 50 guest rooms, event spaces and flexible meeting rooms, an intimate rooftop cocktail bar, a penthouse patio and lounge spaces. The hotel also offers access to gear shops and inclusive climbing and skating facilities onsite in a 100,000 sq. ft. historic building located within Salt Lake City’s Granary District.

“We welcome these new properties to our vibrant downtown with open arms,” said Visit Salt Lake President and CEO Kaitlin Eskelson. “In all, they add more than 1,000 rooms to our downtown convention district, giving us so many more options for meeting planners and groups in terms of flexibility, price and convenience.”
